Spring is a time of growth, renewal and birth. After a long and dark winter, the days start to get longer and warmer. I always get so excited about spring, because my mood during winter is often blah. I love gardening, so cleaning out my flower beds and planting spring flowers helps get me out of my funk.
Spring means hiking is more readily available. Which my dog Ernie loves. Salt Lake has several canyons that are watersheds, so no dogs are allowed. However there are plenty of good hikes around the valley that you can take your dog on. If you are looking for more dog friendly places in Salt Lake City, check out my post here.

Wild Rose Trail-
This is a trail along the foothills of North Salt Lake. The snow melts earlier in the year here, than up in say Millcreek Canyon. The trail starts at Wild Rose park and proceeds up along the benches of the foothills for a 2 mile hike. The trail leads to a lookout point that faces West, looking out over the Great Salt Lake. In the spring months and into the beginning of June there are a lot of pretty wildflowers that bloom along the route.
Wheeler Farm
Wheeler Farm is a cute working farm in the Millcreek area of Salt Lake. They have a winter farmers market on Sundays through mid- april. Then the summer farmers market on Saturdays starts in late summer through fall.
There are animals at the farm, which is fun to take the kiddos to see. It is free to walk around and see. This is a pretty place to take photos, and there is a small stream that runs through the property.
They are even hosting an easter egg hunt for the kiddos, on April 19th from 09:30-1:30 this year.
Red Butte Gardens
Red butte gardens is a beautiful place for a walk. In the spring there are plenty of flowers blooming. This is also a great place for taking photos or even having a picnic. What I like are the classes that they offer.
Saturday April 5th and 6th they are having and orchid show, and the following weekend in April they are having a bonsai show. I have been really curious to try out bonsai and so going to a show to get some inspiration sounds like a fun spring activity to do. They do have a calendar on their website with adult classes that are on offer. There is yoga, meditation as well as gardening classes.

Crystal Hot Springs
Why not spend a morning or afternoon at Crystal Hot Springs, perfect for those spring days when it’s not too hot yet. There are several pools of different temperatures to enjoy. Inside they have locker rooms and showers and out by the pools are shelves to store your things. Kids seem to love playing in the large cooler pool while the older adults will relax in the hot springs. Check out there prices and opening hours here.
Thanksgiving Point Tulip Festival
Thanksgiving point is located just around the point of the mountain in Lehi. There are a ton of things to do here, from museums to shops and gardens. This is a really fun spot to take the kids for the day. In the spring they have a tulip festival in their Ashton gardens. It runs April 9th – May 17th this year and tickets need to be bought in advance. They will have live music, interactive classes, food trucks and of course it’s beautiful to just walk around the gardens and snap photos of all the pretty spring flowers.
On April 26th they will be hosting a 5K walk/run event that looks pretty cool. I have never done this here before but I would like to. For more information check out their website.

Cross E Ranch-
This farm is a super cute place to visit in the spring to see all the baby animals. They are having a spring farm event this year from April 10th – May 10th. Get the kids out of the house and take them here, for pony rides, face painting and even stay for lunch at the restaurant on site. They also have a yummy donut shop. There will be tons of activites for the kids to do. See their info here

Get out there and enjoy all that spring has to offer! From blooming flowers to longer days, take advantage of the season’s beauty. Go for a hike, have a picnic, or simply soak up the fresh air. Spring is the perfect time to refresh and reconnect with nature. Embrace the outdoors and make the most of this vibrant time of year!
